In this research project, the isolation, and identification of native microorganisms from various domestic environments capable of degrading those priority pollutants were performed and those microbial cultures were obtained. Some of those microorganisms that have significant activities were subjected to genome sequencing. Among these strains, the genome sequences of two pyrene-degrading strains (Mycobacterium sp. PYR10 and Mycobacterium sp. PYR15) were determined. Gene clusters related with degradation and resistance were identified by genome analysis. To take advantage of these useful microbial resources, further studies on characteristics and mechanisms of biodegradation based on genome information need to be performed and ultimately this research will contribute to environmental industry in nation.
