资源简介:
Data compiled by Paul Richardson, USDA Forest Service Pacific Southwest Research Station. Arcata, CA. paul.richardson@usda.gov These data were collected from the North Fork of the Caspar Creek Experimental Watersheds, CA. The Caspar Creek Experimental Watersheds is a long-term USDA Forest Service experimental site in the Coast Ranges of northern California. Measurements began in 1962 and are ongoing. The North Fork watershed was logged of old-growth from the 1860s to1904. An experimental harvest occurred from 1985 to 1992 and approximately 50% of the North Fork watershed was clearcut. The data included here are supplemental data for Richardson, P. W., Wagenbrenner, J. W., Sutherland, D. G., & Lisle, T. E. (in review). Measuring and modeling gravel transport at Caspar Creek, CA to detect changes in sediment supply, storage, and transport efficiency. Water Resources Research. The Arfstein reach of the North Fork is located ~43 meters upstream of a weir pond at the outlet of the North Fork experimental watershed. Please refer to Richardson et al. (2020) for a map of the North Fork of Caspar Creek. Richardson, P. W., Seehafer, J. E., Keppeler, E. T.; Sutherland, D. G., Wagenbrenner, J. W. (2020). Caspar Creek Experimental Watersheds Phase 2 (1985-2017) data. Forest Service Research Data Archive. https://doi.org/10.2737/RDS-2020-0018 North Fork data included in this supplemental data release: 1) Annual data for reconstructing annual gravel yields and predicted gravel yields. 2) Velocity meter data for the Arfstein reach. 3) Surface grain size data near the Arfstein reach. 4) Delta grain size data from the North Fork weir pond. 5) Channel elevation profile near the Arfstein reach. 6) Channel cross-section elevation data for NFC-18. 7) Channel width and depth near the Arfstein reach for storms. 8) North Fork weir pond sediment data. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Annual data for reconstructing annual gravel yields and predicted gravel yields ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Data file name: "Annual_data_North_Fork.csv" Format: comma-seperated values (csv) file Annual data reported in Richardson et al. (in review). Reconstructed yields were estimated using the approach described in Richardson et al. (in review). Annual settled suspended sediment yields (SSS_t) were estimated as 27.72% of the measured annual suspended sediment yields (SS_t) for HY1963 to HY1999. For HY2000 onward, SSS_t was calculated from differencing suspended sediment yields upstream and downstream of the weir pond following the method of Richardson et al. (in review). Please refer to Richardson et al (2020) for annual pond volumes. First row indicates column name and units Columns: Year_yyyy (Hydrologic year): Hydrologic year for annual values (the hydrologic year is August 1 to July 31 at Caspar Creek. For example, HY1963 refers to August 1 1962 to July 31 1963). SS_t (metric tons): Suspended sediment yield measured at the North Fork weir. SSS_t (metric tons): Settled suspended sediment yield in the North Fork weir pond. Bed_t (metric tons): Reconstructed bed load yield in the North Fork weir pond. Bed_std_t (metric tons): Standard deviation of annual bed load yield “Bed_t.” Gravel_t (metric tons): Reconstructed gravel yield in the North For weir pond. Gravel_std_t (metric tons): Standard deviation of annual gravel yield “Gravel_t.” Gravel_MS_t (metric tons): Predicted annual gravel yield for the monitored storms approach (see Richardson et al., in review). Gravel_Nat_t (metric tons): Predicted annual gravel yield for the natural x-section approach (see Richardson et al., in review). Gravel_Eng_t (metric tons): Predicted annual gravel yield for the engineered x-section approach (see Richardson et al., in review). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Velocity meter data for the Arfstein reach ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Data file name: "Velocity_meter_data_Arfstein.csv" Format: comma-seperated values (csv) file Water velocity measurements were made with a velocimeter at the Arfstein reach. We report on measurements made from 1983 to 1993. Multiple velocity measurements were made across the width of the channel for each set of measurements. We report on the mean velocity for the entire channel width. Measurements were made from a bridge. The width of the stream below the bridge is 4.42 m. This engineered reach has been modified through time, but the width has remained similar. First row indicates column name and units Columns: Date_mm/dd/yyyy (month/day/year): Date of measurement. Velocity_m3/s (cubic meters/second): mean measured velocity for corresponding "Date_mm/dd/yyyy." Water_h_m (meters): mean water depth at velocity measurement...
