Formation of the Image of the Russian World as an Aspect of Sociocultural Adaptation of Foreigners in the Process of Teaching the Russian Language

ABSTRACT This article intends to analyze the real image of the Russian World, the main construction of which is the Russian language. Education given in Russian contains not only unique knowledge, but also special values and a system of views reflecting the essence of the Russian World. Today, education is becoming one of the most effective instruments for implementing Russia's soft power. A growing influx of international students into Russian universities is increasing the role of preparatory colleges which organize purposeful and systematic work on socio-cultural adaptation of foreign citizens. During this work, the teachers of Russian as a foreign language (RFL) face the task of forming an objective, and at the same time, attractive image of the Russian World. This article outlines the main ways to solve this issue.
