W3Dge - 3D-Scanned Cuneiform Writing Series

This dataset contains 42 cuneiform writing experiments (series). In each series, individual cuneiform wedges were impressed one by one into a plastiline clay tablet using a wooden stylus, and the tablet surface was captured with a GOM Scan 1 structured-light 3D scanner after each impression step. The dataset provides: Cleaned 3D surface meshes (PLY, ~35 GB) Four types of semantic per-vertex labels (binary, step-by-step, wedge instance, and sign) as plain-text files (~7.2 GB) Instance-labeled PLY meshes (~30 GB) Rendered label visualizations (PNG, ~1.3 GB) Annotated SVG line-art documentation (~27 MB) Per-series PDF datasheets including transliterations (~58 MB) Series metadata (CSV) README.md It is intended to support research in digital cuneiform studies, cuneiform OCR, and computer-vision tasks such as surface segmentation and wedge or sign detection. An interactive viewer for browsing all 42 series without downloading any data is available at W3Dge, including step-by-step scan sequences, label overlays, line arts (including wedge imprint order), and transliterations. A detailed README with folder structure, file format descriptions, label creation methodology, and usage examples is provided.
