资源简介:
This exhibition, focusing on the contemporary concrete art and photography of 9 international artists, including Alan Uglow (UK), Tilman (Germany), John Beech (USA), Else Marie Hagen (Norway) and Emmanuelle Villard (France) was curated by Petra Bungert, Executive Director CCNOA, and confirms Thomas' place as an exemplar of best practice in the field. Reflection, two composite photo paintings, continued his research investigating how time and space are a phenomenology of the relationship between them and how they are manifested. In this case he combines time and space with issues of non-objective painting (concrete reality in the present) and photographic time. The juxtapositional relationship which takes these works into an extended time space relationship is achieved by reflecting the viewers' own images, by which the viewer becomes an element amid the history (and time) of the work. Thomas refers to his works as composites, a term derived from Henri Bergson's thinking, enabling things which are different in kind to be reconciled over the time of viewing." (Max Delany, Director, Monash University Museum of Art). The exhibition was supported by City of Brussels, Belgian Arts Council and the Office of Contemporary Art, Norway.
