The Development of Third-Party Intervention in Children Aged 4–10: Balancing Unfairness Aversion and Self-Interest

This dataset includes the anonymized behavioral data and analysis scripts used in all statistical analyses reported in the paper.The study examined how children aged 4 to 10 engaged in third-party punishment and compensation in response to varying degrees of unfairness, and how age, empathy, and inhibitory control jointly influenced their fairness-related decision making.The shared materials include:analysis_ready.csv – the cleaned dataset containing all variables used in analyses (in wide format).analysis_scripts.R – the R script used for preprocessing, mixed-effects modeling, and figure generation.variable_dictionary.xlsx – a detailed data dictionary explaining all variable names, coding schemes, and scales.README.md – documentation on data structure, analytic workflow, and reproducibility instructions.All identifying information has been removed, and the dataset is fully anonymized.The files allow full replication of the analyses and figures presented in the manuscript.
