Folk dance at women's anniversary, Nigeria, 1934

Black and white photograph showing a folk dance at a mission-organised celebration at Eziama, in modern Imo state, south-eastern Nigeria. The celebration is described as a women's anniversary. A group of women stand in a circle, performing a traditional Nigerian folk dance. Their matching uniforms suggest that they are members of the Girls' Life Brigade, a troop of girl guides organised by Miss Brazier, the missionary in charge of evangelistic work at Ama Achara Methodist Hospital, run by the Methodist Missionary Society.
