RNA-Seq reads of mangroves- and reef-origin adults of the coral Porites lutea

This project aims to examine genetic characteristics of P. lutea adults from the mangrove lagoon at Woody Isles and the neighboring reef site, to assess genetic connectivity and elucidate the mechanisms underlying the capacity of P. lutea to survive in an extreme marginal environment. Exploring such mechanisms will ultimately advance our understanding of extreme ecosystems and the potential for mangrove lagoons to serve as source of stress-hardened corals.
