Rural zoning of the EAC 2015-2020

The zoning of the rural area of the EAC responds to the need to identify the scope of rural development policies and their support programmes. In general, our rural space is strongly intertwined with the urban space although clearly distinguishable from it. However, there are important differences between the territories of the Cantabrian side and Álava. Thus, two typologies of rural areas and six degrees of rurality are identified:The most disadvantaged rural areas, included in the RDP2020 as the scope of Local Development Strategies (LEADER). Its territorial base is the municipality and includes the degrees of rurality G1, G2 and G3. The rest of the rural areas, whose territorial base is the population entity, and which includes the rural levels G4, G5 and G6
