Botanical evidence gaps across fire-exposed landscapes in Brazilian tropical biomes

his dataset contains the analytical and computational materials supporting the study “Botanical evidence gaps across fire-exposed landscapes in Brazilian tropical biomes.” The study evaluated where open terrestrial plant occurrence documentation is limited across landscapes with high relative fire exposure in Brazil’s six biomes. GBIF-derived records for angiosperms, gymnosperms, pteridophytes and bryophytes from 2000–2025 were integrated with burned-area and fire-frequency metrics from MapBiomas Fire for 1985–2025 and 2020–2025. Documentation was summarised as source-preserving C2 documentary clusters across 3,400 50-km grid cells. The deposit includes processed analytical tables, portable R scripts, biome-constrained null-model results, spatial aggregation tests, statistical model-audit products and six final figures in TIFF format. It also provides a README with execution instructions, a data dictionary, a SHA-256 integrity manifest, computational environment information, citation metadata and licensing information. Count models and two-part models are retained as model-audit products. Because they failed residual-diagnostic and spatial-independence criteria, their coefficients were not interpreted as inferential results. The study’s principal findings are based on descriptive summaries, constrained null models and spatial permutation tests. These materials describe the distribution of available botanical documentation in relation to fire exposure. They do not estimate plant abundance, species richness, biological absence, fire impact, vulnerability or causal ecological responses. Raw GBIF downloads and the complete MapBiomas Fire raster archive are not redistributed in this deposit. The README provides the five GBIF download DOIs, the official MapBiomas Fire source and the information required to trace the external datasets. The processed tables permit reproduction of the manuscript summaries, null models, statistical audits and figures.
