LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA: Banana Shire Council LOCATION: The resource is located at 1031 Castle Creek Rd, approximately 23 kilometres northeast of Theodore and 47 kilometres south of Banana (see KRA Map 101).

EXTRACTIVE RESOURCE: Hard Rock

EXTRACTIVE RESOURCE DESCRIPTION: The resource is hosted by the Camboon Volcanics and consists of basalt to basaltic andesite and minor volcaniclastic rocks. It is located close to the proposed route of the Surat Basin Railway and the Leichhardt Highway.

SIGNIFICANCE: The resource appears capable of sustaining the proposed production rates of more than 100,000 tonnes/yr for several decades. The resource has the potential to supply material to the region for a number of decades, and is ideally located to supply major projects in the region.

SEPARATION AREA: A maximum separation distance of 1000 metres has been applied around the resource/processing area boundary as the surrounding land is zoned Rural.

TRANSPORT ROUTE: The material will be transported via Defence Road and onto the Leichardt Highway.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: Most of the KRA is covered by Strategic Cropping Land Trigger Mapping under the Strategic Cropping Land Act 2011 administered by the Department of Natural Resources and Mines. This indicates the location of potential SCL and further onground assessment against the SCL criteria is required to confirm whether the area is or is not an SCL.
