This project aims to combine X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) measurements to investigate the electronic and structural evolution of WOx/ZrO2 (WZr) supported Ru-X (X=Pt, Co) bimetallic catalysts used for hydrogenolysis upcycling of plastic waste to fuels. The advanced capabilities of SNBL-BM31 enable real-time tracking of the active metal and support interactions under relevant reaction conditions, providing crucial insights into the dynamic structural transformations governing catalytic performance. These in situ studies will complement our prior ex situ characterizations, facilitating a deeper understanding of the structure-performance relationship and guiding the rational design of more efficient catalysts for sustainable plastic conversion.
