Sea Turtle Fibropapillomatosis Sequencing

Sea turtle fibropapillomatosis (FP) is an epizootic debilitating disease affecting sea turtles globally. Juvenile green turtles are the most affected species of sea turtles by this cancer causing disease. The etiology of the disease is not clear but it is rather a multifactorial disease linked to environmental and anthropogenic effects. An alphaherpesvirus is strongly associated with tumour formation but the presence of other viruses, virus-host interaction and the host genetics requires more research.
