INART cattle manure treatment strategies

Many pathogenic antibiotic-resistant bacteria and their antibiotic-resistance genes are frequently present in the dairy cattle feces. To prevent the possibility of antimicrobial resistance transfer to the environment, these feces should undergo treatment before being used as a natural fertilizer. The data describe the effects of two commonly-used manure treatment strategies, storage and composting, conducted at the laboratory scale on bacterial community structure. All samples used in the two methods were collected from the same animals from a single farm at the same time. The data consists of results of metagenomic sequencing targeting V3-V4 variable regions of 16S rRNA to characterize microbial communitystructure.
