The ratio of elements in roots was measured using the X-ray microanalysis. The results were calculated by expressing the percentage of atomic number for a particular element (K+ or Na+) in the total atomic number for all the elements (K+, Na+, Ca2+, Mg2+, Al3+ and Mn2+) detected in the given region of the root samples. Each data are the means of 5–8 measurements. Values followed by the same letter in a line are not significantly different (P>0.05) as described by one-way ANOVA.
