资源简介:
FReDA/pairfam Campus Use Files (CUFs) provide a reduced data set of the FReDA and pairfam studies and are intended for teaching purposes only. Data users are advised not to use the FReDA/pairfam CUFs for scientific publications that are not intended for teaching purposes. Researchers who wish to use the FReDA and/or pairfam data for scientific publications should use the corresponding Scientific Use Files (SUFs). The study programme FReDA – The German Family Demography Panel is a cooperative project of the German Federal Institute for Population Research (BiB), GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences, and – as representatives of the pairfam consortium – the University of Cologne and the Friedrich Schiller University Jena. FReDA is a longitudinal study on family and demography with an international perspective and a dyadic multi-actor design. As part of the international Generations and Gender Programme (GGP), the German Generations and Gender Survey (GGS) sample (FReDA-GGS) allows for comparisons with around 18 other European countries as well as five countries or territories in Asia and South America. From FReDA wave 2 onwards, the pairfam sample, which had existed in large part since 2008, was integrated into the FReDA panel as the FReDA-pairfam sample and will be followed with a joint FReDA survey instrument. The FReDA reference paper by Schneider et al. (2021) and the data brief by Hank et al. (2024) provide a comprehensive presentation of the methodological and conceptual foundations of the FReDA study. More information on FReDA can be found on the FReDA study page and on the FReDA website . The German Family Panel pairfam (“Panel Analysis of Intimate Relationships and Family Dynamics”) is a multidisciplinary longitudinal study to research partnership and family living arrangements in Germany. It was funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) from 2004 to 2022 as a priority programme and long-term project. The base sample of the first survey wave in 2008/09 comprised 12,402 randomly selected persons born between 1971–73, 1981–83, and 1991–93. Interviews were conducted once a year until 2022. In wave 11, the 2001–03 birth cohort was added as part of a restocking and refreshment sample. The additional interviews with partners, parents, and children offer a unique potential for the analysis of partnership and intergenerational relationships in different phases of life. The pairfam reference paper by Huinink et al. (2011) provides a comprehensive presentation of the methodological and conceptual foundations of the relationship and family panel. More information on pairfam can be found on the pairfam study page and on the pairfam website . The data of the FReDA/pairfam CUFs are not restricted in terms of data access. In order to ensure easy access to these data, the FReDA/pairfam CUFs include only selected parts of the samples and variables contained in the SUFs of the two data projects. First, the FReDA/pairfam CUFs comprise a subsample of the respective FReDA and pairfam samples. In addition, the data of the FReDA/pairfam CUFs do not contain all samples available in the SUFs. For the FReDA/pairfam CUFs, we exclude the (FReDA)-pairfam step-up sample as well as all ex-partners. Second, certain variables from the SUFs are not included in the CUFs or are available only in aggregated form.
