Proteome database of Halobacterium salinarum NRC-1

<i>Halobacterium salinarum</i> is an obligate aerobic archaeon able to tolerate extremely high level of salt. Given its ability to withstand high salt environment and thus to survive in salted food, it is a clinically significant archaea which needs to form part of the surveillance network in safeguarding food safety. This work provides the proteomic information that could inform the design of experiments aiming to disentangle the mechanistic basis underlying high salt tolerance of <i>H. salinarum</i>. Specifically, the UniProt proteome file of <i>H. salinarum</i> NRC-1 was parsed by an in-house MATLAB proteome analysis software to yield a collated database comprising protein name, amino acid sequence, number of residues, molecular weight, and nucleotide sequence. Overall, the proteome database of <i>H. salinarum</i> should find use in guiding molecular cloning and genome editing experiments aiming to elucidate the functional basis of particular proteins through loss-of-function analysis.
