<b>DEPA – South Africa Audio Soundscapes and Interviews</b>

The primary objective of the Soundscapes Project was to capture and analyse the sonic representations of peace and conflict in the inner-city suburbs of Johannesburg, South Africa. The project invited local artists to curate soundscapes that reflected the dual themes of peace and conflict, giving them a platform to express their individual and collective experiences. Each soundscape was a carefully woven tapestry of emotions and stories, encapsulating the tension and harmony that characterizes life in these vibrant communities.The 36 files in this item are the audio recordings of soundscapes and interviews with participants on their experiences of being a part of the project, xenophobia, peace and conflict in the community. 22 audio files, 14 word transcriptsThe South Africa Project was one of the original Proof of Concept projects with DEPA (Decolonising Education for Peace in Africa). DEPA was a 4 year project funded by the Arts and Humanities Council (AHRC) addressing the question: What are the different knowledges and values underpinning peace and how can these practices be connected and compared across countries to create curriculum content and mode of delivery in informal and formal settings, Secondary and Higher Education (HE), in order to decolonise peace education?‘声景项目’（Soundscapes Project）的核心目标，是捕捉并分析南非约翰内斯堡内城郊区地区中与和平及冲突相关的声音表征。本项目邀请本地艺术家策划体现和平与冲突双重主题的声景作品，为他们搭建表达个体与集体经历的平台。每一件声景作品均为精心编织的情感与叙事织锦，凝练了这些充满活力的社区生活所兼具的张力与和谐。 本数据集共包含36份文件，均为声景作品的音频录音，以及针对项目参与者的访谈录音，访谈内容涵盖参与者参与本项目的经历、社区内的仇外心理、和平与冲突相关议题，其中包含22份音频文件与14份文字转写稿。 ‘南非项目’（South Africa Project）是DEPA（非洲和平教育去殖民化，Decolonising Education for Peace in Africa）的首批概念验证（Proof of Concept）项目之一。DEPA是一项为期四年的项目，由艺术与人文研究委员会（Arts and Humanities Council, AHRC）资助，旨在解答以下核心问题：支撑和平的不同知识体系与价值观念究竟是什么？如何在各国间对接并比较这些实践，从而在中等教育、高等教育（HE）及非正式与正式教育场景中开发课程内容与授课模式，以实现和平教育的去殖民化？
