Marion Island vegetation and associated fungal endophytic diversity. soil metagenome

Mycorrhizal fungi and dark septate endopyte fungi are closely associated with plants. Published literature indicate the presence of these fungi in fungal communities associated with plants found on islands within the sub-Antarctic region. Focused on Marion Island, this project aimed to investigate the presence and diversity of the aforementioned fungi. Exploring fungal communities associated plants on sub-Antarctic islands like Marion Island can potentially lead to a further understanding of nutrient cycling in such environments.
