Monthly surface chlorophyll-a data and ENSO composites in the Northern Humboldt Current System

This dataset comprises monthly maps of surface chlorophyll-a concentrations derived from the ESACCI-OC product, covering the region between 0-20°S and 70-90°W at a high spatial resolution of 4 km. In addition to the raw chlorophyll-a data, the dataset includes ENSO phase composites—monthly climatologies that characterize typical conditions during El Niño, La Niña, and ENSO-neutral phases. These composites provide valuable insights into the variability and trends in ocean productivity associated with different ENSO conditions, offering a comprehensive view of the temporal and spatial patterns of chlorophyll-a in the study area.
