Water finishes – version 1.0

Water fins version 1.0 is a new georeferenced digital file of stationary surface waters in Flanders. The file, built by combining existing topographical map layers, ortho-photo images and the digital terrain model Flanders version II, comprises 86.026 polygons with a size of between 1.45 m² and 2.4 km² and can be considered the most complete representation of stationary waters currently available for the Flemish territory. In this sense, it can be used for a wide range of applications in research, policy preparation and implementation in which the distribution and characteristics of stationary waters play a role. ‘Water finishes’ also provides a unique reference for further data management on such water bodies.
