VPRS 15702 Register of Leases, Section 157 Land Act 1890 and the Mallee Lands Act 1896, St Arnaud

This series consists of a register of leases of Mallee border lands dealt with at the St Arnaud District Survey Office. Details given are the file number , the name of the lessee, the county in which the land was located, the area of the land, details with respect to the payment of rents and details of correspondence and file management.Section 157 of the Land Act 1890 provided that leases of Mallee lands could be granted for up to 20 years from 1883 with no more than 20,000 acres to be held by any one person.
