This 2001 Population Census Dataset contains statistics covering demographic, household, educational, economic, housing and internal migration characteristics of the Hong Kong population residing in the 390 District Council Constituencies in 2001. This dataset also includes the boundary demarcations of each District Council Constituency. Since 1961, Hong Kong has conducted a decennial population census, with a mid-year population by-census conducted between each two consecutive censuses. The 2001 Population Census, carried out in March 2001, provided benchmark statistics on the social and economic characteristics of Hong Kong's population. These statistics are particularly critical for the government's policy planning and formulation. This dataset will be incorporated into the spatial data thematic collection of the population distribution framework.
