The longitudinal reinforcement was spliced with mechanical couplers at the base of the wall. It had boundary-element confinement (1.2% volumetric confining reinforcement ratio).
The wall was subjected to lateral displacement reversals of increasing amplitude up to failure. A constant axial load of approximately 10%f'c*Ag was applied.
