During this time we explore Castro Street and the surrounding community from the mid 20th century to today as it begins to gentrify and becomes the gay mecca of the west coast and home to the gay rights movement. During this time period, we explore the exodus of the indigenous Catholic population and immigration of the gay community and their shops to the effects of the AIDs epidemics form 1986-1992 on the community and the built environment through today and the current battles that take place on the founding ideals from the 1880âs.
