The goal of this project was to investigate global transcriptional changes in bloodstream stage Trypanosoma brucei parasites upon iron deficiency induced by two orthogonal approaches: (i) treatment with iron chelator deferoxamine and (ii) silencing of the main iron import machinery the transferrin receptor. Following either treatment, total RNA was purified and deep-sequenced.
