Dataset: From Science Contestation to Political Economy — The Multiplatform Infrastructure of Vaccine Disinformation in Brazil (2020–2024) [Encrypted / Restricted Access]

This repository contains an encrypted multimodal dataset derived from the monitoring of public Telegram channels and groups associated with vaccine-related disinformation in Brazil. The dataset covers the period from January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2024, and was built from the monitoring of 1,500 public Telegram channels and groups, resulting in a corpus of approximately 686,000 posts shared in text, image, and video formats. This dataset was produced as part of the research: "From Science Contestation to Political Economy: The Multiplatform Infrastructure of Vaccine Disinformation in Brazil" The research investigates the multiplatform ecosystem of vaccine disinformation in Brazil, combining computational techniques (topic modeling and image clustering) with qualitative interpretive analysis. It shows that anti-vaccine narratives operate through systematic epistemic boundary work that contests the legitimacy of institutional science, and identifies a clandestine market tied to the monetization of disinformation, including the sale of falsified vaccine passports. This dataset was developed to support research in digital sociology, computational social science, political communication, and disinformation studies, contributing to scientific replication, comparative research, and methodological development in large-scale digital communication analysis. Data protection and access conditions For reasons related to data protection and ethical considerations regarding user-generated content, all files in this repository are encrypted. The dataset contains only content collected from public Telegram channels and groups. Access restrictions were adopted to prevent misuse or user exposure.
