16S rRNA sequencing of gut microbiome in WT and conditional AhR knockout colitis mice with I3C treatment

To access the cell specific contribution of aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) in regulating the gut microbiome during colitis, wild-type (WT) and conditional AhR knockout mice. AhR conditional knockout, created using the cre-lox method, included conditional deletion of AhR in Rorc-expressing immune cells (AhRRorc) and epithelial cells (AhRVil1). Colitis was induced in male and female WT C57BL/6 mice or conditional AhR mutant mice using the dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) method. Treatment groups were given administration of a known AhR ligand (indole-3-carbinol, I3C) at 40mg/kg dose.
