We present the venom gland transcriptome of a lance-Headed viper, the Bothrops neuwiedi. Main pathological effects of Bothrops venom is on hemorrhagic system. The Injuries are caused mainly by action of enzymes including serine proteases (SVSPs), metalloproteinases (SVMP) and phospholipase A2(PLA2), and non-enzymatic proteins such as disintegrins and snake proteins related to C-type lectins (SNACLECs). Although these venom proteins cause damage, they demonstrate great potential for biotechnological and pharmacological applications. We sequenced one cDNA library for four adult female snakes using next generation sequencing to describe the Bothrops neuwiedi venom proteins. In order to annotate the transcriptome, we performed the De Novo assembling of transcripts, and map the transcripts against the assembled transcriptome.
