Ecology data set 3 woodlot

The data was colllected at York University's woodlot area at 4.30pm on Wednesday, September 23, 2015. It was a group collection by Prachi, Mary, Shaneil, Ghamsayini and Antoni. Upon arrival at the woodlot, our group started walking from the edge of the woodlot in a straight line while extending the transact mesuring tape. Every distance of an adult tree encountered on the transact from a reference tree was measured. Also the dbh was recorded for 10 trees.The distance of the breast height from ground was 1.6m. Another factor that was measured was the condition of the tree. This was done by viewing the tree canopy and the plight of the bark of the tree. The scale of measure was from 0-2, where 0 indicated a dead tree, 1 meant the tree was alive and 2 indicated a full green, canopy cover. The purpose of the experiment was to determine the condition and size of trees who grow and compete for resources in close proximity. It is also useful in determining the endangerment of the ecosysytem and how to maintain it. It is also useful in other fields of research
