Bathing water — Ostreopsis

These data are part of the monitoring to verify the presence of toxic epiphytic algae including Ostreopsis ovata and Ostreopsis spp., dinoflagellate belonging to the Ostreopsidaceae family, in bathing areas. Since the summer of 2019, the cynobacteria community has also started counting if the chemical analyses prove that the value of 20 µg/L is exceeded as required by the update of the current standards (ISTISAN Reports 14/20). The monitoring is carried out from May to September of each year along 4 points of the coast P.Garibaldi, Lido di Savio, Cesenatico, Misano), following the same schedule of checks carried out for bathing waters. The collection and analysis activities are carried out by the Daphne Oceanographic Structure which is based in Cesenatico and are published on the Arpae website within 48 hours of collection as provided for by the National Coordination Plan for the surveillance of blooms of Ostreopsis Ovata of the Ministry of Health.
