To explore the genetic basis of these sexual dimorphism/adaptations we sequenced the genomes of four Ithomiini species - Mechanitis polymnia, Tithorea harmonia, Methona confusa, and Greta morgana - and the antennal transcriptomic of Mechanitis polymnia, Tithorea harmonia, Methona confusa. The species represent the deep divisions within the ithomiine phylogeny, and variable ecologies and neuromorphologies. With these resources, we characterise and manually curate the antennal chemosensory receptors and odorant binding proteins, in order to test for specific signatures of gene family evolution and selection, and divergent patterns of receptor expression using antennal transcriptomes between sexes and species in three Ithomiini butterflies.
