Rhodnius prolixus Transcriptome or Gene expression

The bloodsucking hemipteran Rhodnius prolixus is a vector of Chagas disease, one of the most neglected tropical diseases and which affects several million people, mostly in Latin America. The blood meal in those insects is an event with a high epidemiological impact since in mated females, it leads the production of hundreds of eggs. By means of RNA-Sequencing (RNA-Seq), here we examined how a blood meal influences on CNS, fat body and ovaries mRNA expression to promote the egg production, focusing in details associated with a tissue-specific responses at a specific nutritional condition
