National interest nature conservation

Areas of national interest in nature conservation shall represent the main features of Swedish nature, highlight the development of the landscape and show the diversity of nature from a national perspective. The selection of sites of national interest for nature conservation is carried out by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency in cooperation with, inter alia, the county administrative boards and municipalities.
