To further elucidate the regulatory mechanisms of EAB to maintain stable and efficient nitrate reduction under varying salinity levels, representative strains of Geobacter and Pseudomonas were selected to assess their physiological responses to low (group L), medium (group M), and high (group H) salinities. Based on microbial community at species level, G. sulfurreducens, which accounted for 44% in Group 7.5, was chosen as the representative strain of Geobacter. Meanwhile, P. aeruginosa, a model electroactive strain frequently used to study biofilm-electrode interactions, was selected as the representative strain of Pseudomonas.
