Re-examining the Teachings of the Buddha — An Invitation Hidden for Over Two Millennia

Imagine receiving a letter. It doesn’t ask you to join any organization, believe any dogma, or submit to any authority. It contains only this passage: “Would you be willing to observe directly? Look closely at your body, feelings, thoughts, mental formations, and awareness—aren’t they all constantly changing? When you try to grasp something unchanging, doesn’t that create tension or suffering? And within that very tension, can you find anything that truly deserves to be called ‘I’?” This was the Buddha’s original invitation—not a divine decree, not a command, not “believe in me and be saved.” It was an invitation to conduct an experiment, with your own present-moment mind and body as the laboratory.
