Elevated surface water temperatures are increasing the prevalence of pathogenic bacteria at higher latitudes. The increase in Vibrio-related wound infections, e.g., Vibrio vulnificus, and deaths along the Baltic coast is therefore of serious concern. From May to October 2022, we examined the environmental and biological factors regulating Vibrio dynamics in the Baltic Sea. We sampled three coastal Baltic sites, i.e., in Denmark, Germany, and Finland, based on different salinities differences (6-21 PSU) and monitored the absolute and relative abundance of Vibrio spp. and V. vulnificus in the water column and sediment. We set three substations, A -in the middle of the seagrass, B - 15 m, and C - 100 m from the seagrass. Therefore, water, sediment, and eelgrass were sequenced on Illumina Nextseq 2000.
