Whole genome sequencing of Guanaco (Lama guanicoe)

Evolutionary history is usually coupled with environmental gradients across the speciation continuum. Therefore, the study of evolution in species that inhabit diferent environments provide insights on how the genetic pool is structured across populations with different environmental barriers. In this study, we analyzed 38 genomes of Lama guanicoe along its distribution to assess the population structure, the evolutionary history and phylogeography of the species. This study explore the biogeography of the southern cone of South America, providing information on the characteristics that have favored the diversification of species.
