DATASET Bioatlas of Balearic Islands

Bioatles is a database of sightings of species from the Balearic Islands that has been generated with data published or ceded free of charge by its authors. Each sighting is geo-referenced in a grid of 1 km x 1 km and a grid of 5 km x 5 km covering all the terrestrial territory of the Balearic Islands. Each sighting also includes information about the source and type of sighting (sure, likely, possible, migratory, ...).Based on this information, you can generate distribution maps of each species included in the BioAtles using the specific tools of the following viewer: http://bioatles.caib.es/serproesfront/VisorServlet. The maps generated with this viewer can be downloaded in GML format. IMPORTANT: There are specially protected species that are not publicly displayed on the mesh of 1 km x 1 km. The data are only informative, without normative value or legal effects. They are not exhaustive, and in some cases they may include inaccuracies derived from the process of capturing and treating the information. This mapping does not replace the original documents (works from the respective authors).
