These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. This data set consists of areas permitted for irrigation, storage, evaporation, and disposal of treated sewage effluent in the Upper Carson River Basin, California and Nevada. It was compiled at 1:24,000-scale from maps, figures, and verbal and written communication provided by permitting agencies, Nevada Department of Environmental Protection (NDEP), public utility districts, and permitees.
