NRS-5277 | Payments from employers to Colonial Treasurer

These consist of forms pasted onto the leaves of the volumes. The forms are printed, and show the name, age, and trade or calling of an intending migrant; the amount paid towards the cost of his passage and his outfit; and the name of the Clerk of Petty Sessions who forwarded the money. Presumably, the Clerk filled out the form, forwarded it and the money to the Immigration Agent, who, after registering the form as an inletter, again forwarded the form and the money to the Colonial Treasurer. These volumes cover the period in which almost all sponsors were employers seeking labour.(4/4670-72). 3 vols.
