Characterization of an Entner-Doudoroff pathway-activated Escherichia coli

EDP was activated by deleting the pfkAB genes in conjunction with subsequent adaptive laboratory evolution (ALE). Whole genome sequencing allowed to detect six mutations of evolved strain, mostly associated with the transcriptional regulatory genes for the glycolytic process (crp, galR, and gntR) and in the glycolytic pathway-related genes (gnd, ptsG, and talB).
