The field global change manipulation experiments, conducted under precipitation reduction (PR), warming (W), and combined precipitation reduction with warming (PRW), along with metagenomic functional analysis, help reveal the physiological basis of drought stress tolerance (i.e., metabolic pathways for osmolyte synthesis) and carbon resource acquisition (i.e., glycoside hydrolase genes for organic matter decomposition) across different microbial taxa in environments stressed by aridity and warming.
