These record details of children admitted into the asylums managed by the Society for the Relief of Destitute Children. The information in the Registers is recorded across a double page, divided into Admissions and Departures. The Admissions page lists admission number, date of admission, name, age, whether able to read and write, religion of parents, and a note regarding the previous history of the child and reasons for admission, family circumstances as far as could be ascertained. Until March 1858 additional columns were included for complexion, eyes, hair, father's place of birth and trade, mother's place of birth and where married, and any scars or peculiar marks. The Departures page lists date, age at departure, and details of circumstances - whether apprenticed or discharged into service, and to whom, whether removed by a parent or relative, or Boarded out. The last Admission to Randwick Asylum for Destitute Children is recorded in the Registers as occurring on 14 August 1915, with the last children remaining listed as Departures from the Asylum on 11 October 1915.There is an alphabetical index at the front of each volume.
