Australian National Multiscale Elevation Models

This collection includes national digital surface (DSM) and elevation (DEM) models derived from Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) data. The models have been produced at 1 second and 3 second scales The elevation models were derived by removing vegetation from surface models, however, man-made structures such as urban areas and power line towers have not been treated. The unsmoothed elevation models have also been smoothed (DEM-S) and hydrologically enforced (DEM-H) to support the calculation of local terrain shape attributes such as slope, aspect and curvatures and to determine water flow directions and drainage basin extents.

Value: Elevation and surface models are important for modelling and understanding surface and subsurface, as well as planning for exploration, development and assessing hazards.
