These volumes contain copies of reports on claims to land grants based on orders for land issued by the Governor. Volume 2/2229 contains: the progressive number of the Surveyor General's report; the date on which the letter sent for report was written; the name of the applicant for the land grant; the date on which the letter sent for report was written; the annual single number of the Colonial Secretary's "blank cover"; a column headed "Remarks" left unused in all but one case; a copy of the Surveyor General's report; and a column headed "Decision" containing summaries of Colonial Secretary's decisions on cases, and references to half-monthly returns of land granted and references to catalogue numbers of maps. Volumes 4/5420-23 contain: the annual progressive number of the Surveyor General's report; the annual single number of the Colonial Secretary's "blank cover"; the date on which the letter was received by the Surveyor General; the name of the applicant for the grant or his agent; the name of the original promisee in whose favour the order was made or the name of the occupier of the land; number of acres of the land in question; place where the land was situated; a copy of the Surveyor General's report; the date when the land was advertised in favour of whose claims were accepted; and references to subsequent correspondence.(2/2229, 4/5420-23). 5 vols.
