Red Sea metagenomes

The Red Sea brine pools (BPs) are among the most geochemically extreme and ecologically isolated marine environments, providing a unique opportunity to study microbial adaptation and ecosystem functioning. However, the diversity of microbial functions and activities in these habitats remain poorly understood. Here we provide four metagenomes from the Atlantis II Deep BP at a depth of 850 m, along with the adjacent ambient deep water (ADW, 11.5 km away from the BP) to investigate microbial communities.
