Population

The population includes all persons who are permanently resident in the area concerned. Persons holding several dwellings shall be attributed to the population of the municipality in which the main dwelling is located within the meaning of Section 17(2) of the Reporting Act (version of 23 February 1996). The population does not include the members of the foreign stationing forces as well as foreign diplomatic and consular missions with their family members. Before 27 April 1983, persons with housing in several municipalities were assigned to the municipality from which they went to work or training. As far as they were neither employed nor in education, the apartment or accommodation in which they were predominantly resident was decisive. With effect from 27 April 1983, when the population is updated on the basis of registrations and deregistrations, persons who hold several dwellings are attributed to the population of the municipality in which their main residence is located within the meaning of the new Land Registration Act.
