Extended data - Mucosal sample collection, processing and technical assay methods used in the establishment and implementation of a regional mucosal training program to facilitate multi-center collaboration in research in Eastern Africa

These extended data files are linked to the manuscript titled ‘Establishment and implementation of a regional mucosal training program to facilitate multi-center collaboration in basic and clinical research in Eastern Africa’. Kenya AIDS Vaccine Initiative-Institute of Clinical Research (KAVI-ICR) and International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) developed standardized mucosal sample collection, processing and technical assay methods; these were subsequently applied into several observational studies, and clinical trials at KAVI-ICR. Thereafter, KAVI-ICR facilitated the technology transfer of the methods, by training staff at regional establishments in Africa. The extended data contain the mucosal sample collection, processing and technical assay methods that were developed and used. There are 14 files consisting of 12 non-controlled copies of Standard Operating Procedures, plus two PowerPoint presentations.
