资源简介:
A total of six bulk soil samples were collected from a paleoseismic trench at the Jerd Creek trench site on the Berryessa section of the Green Valley Fault, California. These samples were examined for the presence of charred organic material suitable for AMS radiocarbon dating. Botanic components and detrital charcoal were identified, and potentially radiocarbon datable material was separated. In the absence of larger-sized charred remains, four of the samples were extracted to recover microscopic charcoal for dating. Radiocarbon dates from the various layers may yield information on the timing of the longest ground ruptures on the Green Valley fault and will further constrain the earthquake history of the site.
